ADOS Test FAQs

Quick answers about professional ADOS testing and the questionnaire on this site.

Is this online assessment an official ADOS-2 test?

No. This is an original educational self-assessment for adults to reflect on their autism-related traits. It is separate from the ADOS and ADOS-2, has no affiliation with WPS or any clinical test publisher, and has no clinical validation. ADOS-2 is a structured observation conducted by a trained clinician and is unavailable as a self-administered online test.

Can this test diagnose me with autism?

No. An online questionnaire cannot diagnose, confirm, or rule out autism spectrum disorder (ASD). This self-assessment helps you reflect on traits you report across five areas. A formal diagnosis requires a comprehensive assessment by a qualified healthcare professional, such as a psychiatrist or clinical psychologist.

How much does the assessment cost, and will I see my results immediately?

The 30-question assessment is free. You can see your full results as soon as you finish, including your total score, result band, and breakdown across five areas. No payment or email address is required.

How long does the online assessment take to complete?

Allow about five minutes for the 30 scored questions and four optional background questions. You can see your progress at each step and take as much time as you need. Your answers stay on your device.

What should I do if my score indicates "Elevated" or "Many" traits?

If the traits you reported affect your daily life, you can use the result to start a conversation with a healthcare professional. Bring the free printable summary to a general practitioner (GP) or mental health specialist to discuss whether a formal assessment would help.

Why might adults seek an online autism trait assessment?

Social fatigue, sensory overload, and masking can lead adults to look for a private way to make sense of lifelong experiences. A self-assessment can help them decide whether to seek a formal assessment, especially when waiting lists or costs make clinical services harder to access.

Why can two people with the same total score get different summaries?

The total adds together scores from five areas. Two people with the same total can have different patterns across those areas, so the summary may highlight different experiences. Use the area breakdown to see which examples you want to reflect on. The score ranges are provisional and do not estimate the likelihood of autism.

How can I clear my answers on a shared device?

Use the questionnaire’s clear-answers control before leaving a shared device. The browser tab can restore your progress after a refresh, and some browsers can reopen closed tabs. If you print or save a PDF, keep it somewhere private because it may include your optional background answers.

What should I bring to an autism assessment appointment?

Ask the clinic what they would like you to bring. You can write down specific experiences from daily life, details you remember from childhood and questions you want to discuss. If you choose to bring this site’s printable summary, use it as a conversation aid alongside your own examples.
