What to expect at an ADOS-2 appointment
Practical questions to ask before an ADOS-2 appointment, during the observation and when you discuss the findings.
Before the appointment
Ask whether your visit includes an ADOS-2 observation, how long the service expects the visit to take and who will be in the room. If waiting areas or unfamiliar rooms are difficult for you, ask what adjustments the service can arrange.
During the observation
The professional will guide you through activities or conversations. If an instruction is unclear or you need a break, tell the professional and ask what is possible during the session.
When you discuss the findings
Ask how the team interpreted its observations alongside your developmental history and everyday experiences. Check when you will receive feedback, whether there will be a written report and whom to contact if you have questions later.
